About the Artist: Carl A. Nelson
Mr. Nelson has worked for the American Indian Travel Commission from 1974 to 1982 and traveled throughout the Continental United States and Alaska working on tourism projects for the American Indians and Alaska Natives--Eskimos, Aleuts, and Indians. His travels and work took him to several hundred reservations, pueblos, rancherias, and native villages in Alaska to assist them in promoting their tourism enterprises. This is the other America that is rarely seen by outsiders. These areas hold some of the most scenic, historic, and interesting areas in America and are largely undiscovered by the public at large. During this time, he took a large number of photographs of scenic sites, historical sites, and buildings. To create a common thread in his photography, he photographed roadside flowers throughout his travels. Roadside flowers are a component of the United States everywhere. These are now available through Pastime Gallery...a section of the Pastime Bookstore. |
